JOHANNESBURG - The ANC has hailed Billy Masetlha for his dedication to the fight against apartheid.
The ambassador to Algeria and former spy boss died at the weekend after a long illness.
Masetlha had been a member of Umkhonto we Sizwe and later served as director-general of the National Intelligence Agency.
The ANC says he was a true patriot who dedicated his life to the cause of humanity.
It says Masetlha was disciplined and remained steadfast in implementing the renewal agenda.
International Relations and Cooperation Minister, Naledi Pandor says South Africa has lost a dependable representative and a firm believer in the ideals and goals of pan- Africanism.
