JOHANNESBURG - The Asset Forfeiture Unit and The Special Investigative Unit have secured a preservation order in a matter related to Eskom's Kusile Power Station.
The order gives the AFU and SIU permission to preserve various assets, including a farm, a commercial property in Mbombela and cars.
These assets are believed to be the proceeds of unlawful activities at Kusile Power Station.
SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said: "It is a tender that was given to this group for them to deliver water, if you remember last week we issued s statement around one individual called Miss Moyo, who was a manager at Eskom who was given this tender and benefited to the value of R24-million, the contract was worth plus minus R400-million which was given to the company and she got the kickbacks.
"We investigated the matter, and as we were getting closer to her, she resigned, we immediately froze her pension. She took us to court and she was unsuccessful.
"Now we are gunning for the company, all these properties are for the money given to the company that is why we are freezing all of them as all of them we believe are proceed of corrupt relation and a corrupt tender.”
