7 arrested in Kriel pupil kidnapping

KRIEL - A 14-year-old girl was taken kidnapped from her school in Kriel, Mpumalanga.

Seven suspects were arrested after some of the demanded ransom money was paid.

They have been remanded in custody until they make a formal bail application.

Meanwhile, there has been a growing concern over the kidnapping of school pupils.

Activists are calling on the police to scale up on efforts to fight the scourge.

Gauteng has the highest number of kidnappings followed by KwaZulu-Natal.
