EAST LONDON - This year's general elections will go down as one of the most hotly-contested in democratic South Africa.
Millions have already registered to line up in snaking queues come election day.
But over the past five years, many have endured the hardships of poverty and unemployment.

Added to that was the unprecedented challenge of living through the Covid-19 pandemic.
After all that, this year presents an opportunity to vote for a party that will take them to the promised land.
