JOHANNESBURG - The Independent Electoral Commission says it has reached its target to register South Africans abroad who intend to vote in this year's elections.
Electoral Operations Manager James Aphane expects the number to go beyond 50,000.
"The number could increase. We are really looking forward to the big number," he said.

Meanwhile, the IEC says there are about 14 million unregistered young people.
The Ground Work Collective is taking its voter registration and education campaign to Gauteng.
It will target institutions of higher learning, shopping malls and community centres.
