CAPE TOWN - Crime and crime prevention will be a hot topic for politicians in the run-up to next year's general elections.
According to the South African Gun Owners Association (SAGA), 10% of SAPS firearms have been reported as lost or stolen over the past two decades, while 9.5m rounds of ammunition have gone missing since 2016.

The firearms being stolen include assault rifles, handguns, and even explosives in some instances.
