2023 Matric results | Millions of pupils drop out due to illiteracy

CAPE TOWN - Some matriculants are celebrating their results on Friday.

But that's not the case for millions of others, who never even made it to Grade 12.

The Zero Dropout Campaign has released its latest report.

It says only 40 percent of pupils who started grade one, completed matric last year.

The group cites illiteracy as the single biggest reason for dropouts.
