16 Days of Activism | Govt admits failure of criminal justice system

KABOKWENI - Government admits the criminal justice system is failing victims of violence against women and children.

Deputy President Paul Mashatile was speaking at the launch of 16 Days of Activism.

This year's campaign was launched at Nsikazi Stadium in Kabokweni, Mpumalanga.

And government is promising to leave no one behind.

According to the latest crime stats, rape incidents are at a staggering 114 a day, or 10,516 in the three-month period between July and September.  

Women were victims in 14,401 Assault  GBH incidents that were reported to the police over 92 days, while 293 children were killed in that period.
