11 Vereeniging police officers in the dock for corruption

VEREENIGING - Gauteng police have condemned police officers who were allegedly found to have been on wrong side of the law. 

On Thursday  11 police officials including senior officers appeared before the Vereeniging Magistrate Court. 

They  face charges of corruption, theft, extortion, defeating the ends of justice and malicious damage to property which date back to 2021. 

The complainant alleges the officers confiscated liquor from his store worth R600 000 and to date there's no trace of it.

They're also alleged to have stolen R700 000.

Reacting to this matter police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel  Mavela Masondo said they would continue to bring corrupt officials to books. 

"Our members who are found on the wrong side of the law will be dealt with decisively  and accordingly without any fear, favour or prejudice," Masondo said.
