WATCH | National Government of Unity | The DA's ultimatum to the ANC

JOHANNESBURG - As part of their negotiations, the DA says any government they join must align with the Constitution and the principles outlined in their Statement of Intent.

Acknowledging the need for power to be shared in the government, they recognize the mandate of the ANC while emphasising the necessity for inclusivity that reflects the electoral outcomes.

But they have set out their demands for the distribution of cabinet posts, which stretches across all clusters.

In the ministries they run, Federal Zille says they should also be allocated the deputy positions.
Their participation in the KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng legislatures will depend on the outcome at national level.

While there’s no national government yet, Gauteng leaders seem to be at a similar stalemate.
