JOHANNESBURG - Whistleblower Babita Deokaran was assassinated on this day three years ago.
The Gauteng Health Department official was gunned down outside her Winchester Hills home, after the revelation of dodgy tenders at Thembisa Hospital.
Her murder is thought to have been a hit.
Last year in August, 6 men were given sentenced for their involvement in her murder.
On the anniversary of Deokaran's killing, eNCA asks if whistleblowers are truly protected.
Karam Singh from Corruption Watch shares his thoughts in the video above.
