PRETORIA - The defence in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial says the State has failed to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt in the trial-within-a-trial.

It says the evidence that both accused 1 and 2 were assaulted and tortured by police should be accepted as reasonably true.
