JOHANNESBURG - It's been a bloody week with nine suspects being shot and killed in KZN while five suspected cash-in-transit robbers were gunned down in Mpumalanga.

The law allows police to defend themselves and community members if faced with violent and dangerous situations.
However, this has sparked concern around the use of force by law enforcement, and now the Independent Police Investigative Directorate has noted a troubling pattern of suspects being killed in police shootouts.
