Cannabis industry faces new restrictions

CAPE TOWN - Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi gazetted new regulations banning the manufacture, sale, and import of hemp and cannabis-derived food products.

This has stirred up concerns within the industry, especially as South Africa moves toward potentially unlocking a multibillion-rand cannabis sector, and government promising job creation and economic growth.

Katlego Kgopotse, the chairperson of the South African Cannabis and Hemp Industry Development Association discussed what this means for the industry.
