JOHANNESBURG - A warrant of arrest has been issued for controversial media personality Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye.
The musician failed to appear in the Germiston Magistrate's Court on Monday.
He faces allegations of kidnapping, assaulting an e-hailing driver, and discharging a firearm during an altercation in June.
The arrest will not be activated until 7 September when the matter is due back in court. Maarohanye claims to be in possession of a medical report showing that he has been booked off for 5 days.
While the state insists he pointed and discharged what appeared to be a firearm during the incident, Jub Jub's lawyer disputes claims that a pellet gun was recovered from his home.
The media personality denies the charges, describing them as fabricated.
