Trade Minister to give details of outcomes of AGOA Forum

JOHANNESBURG - Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Parks Tau will hold a media briefing on the outcomes of the African Growth and Opportunity Act Forum.

The 21st AGOA forum took place in the United States last week where Tau and his deputy Andrew Whitfield led the South African delegation comprising government, private sector, civil society and organised labour.

Launched in 2000, AGOA is a landmark preferential trade program that allows eligible African countries to export products to the United States tariff-free.

It is set to expire in 2025, but South Africa and other countries on the continent want the agreement renewed.
