JOHANNESBURG - Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya’s bail hearing continues Friday, after explosive revelations were heard in court about his alleged interactions with a 16-year-old girl.
The Randburg Magistrate’s Court heard details on Thursday of alleged inappropriate conversations between Sibiya and the teenager, including requests for sexually explicit material.
Sibiya allegedly had a sexually explicit video involving the 16-year-old and asked her for more.
The court also heard an explosive phone recording involving Sibiya’s close associate, Bishop Azwihangwi Maumela.

In the recording, Maumela can be heard speaking to the father of the 16-year-old whom Sibiya is accused of sexually grooming.
He urged the father to convince the 18-year-old woman who has opened a rape case against Sibiya to withdraw the complaint.
Sibiya’s son, Ofentse Magwenya, told the court that the family had never instructed Maumela to intimidate or engage with witnesses.
Sibiya is facing charges including rape, sexual grooming and human trafficking.
He denies the charges and is seeking bail.
