SA's water crisis | Govt to invest R322m in water for uThukela region

DURBAN - A shot in the arm for efforts to improve the distribution of water in KwaZulu-Natal’s uThukela district.

The government has secured R322-million to help address the water crisis in the region.

KwaZulu-Natal Cooperative Governance MEC Thulasizwe Buthelezi says the funds will go to infrastructure upgrades and the building of new water sources.

But some stakeholders are sceptical.

Many are concerned about possible misappropriation of funds, poor planning and maintenance, and deliberate acts of vandalism.
