EAST LONDON - The Eastern Cape Health Department says it's had 19,000 medical admissions and over 4,800 trauma cases since the start of the festive season.
Nearly a thousand of the trauma cases have been recorded since the 15th of December.
The trauma admissions in particular are starting to constrain a health system that has been plagued by challenges related to staff shortages.
But the department says despite these obstacles, it has found contingency plans to deal with these challenges.
