Restore the power grid | Load reduction as energy availability hits 70%

JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has achieved an energy availability factor of 70 percent.

But, it's still implementing load reduction.

Seven provinces will be affected, with only the Free State and Northern Cape being spared.

It says this is to protect the grid from collapse.

Energy analyst Hartmut Winkler says the problem is ageing equipment at a municipal level.
