Police descend on Ivory Park

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Tommy Mthombeni, is leading Operation Shanela, the province’s ongoing crackdown on crime in Ivory Park on Saturday evening.

The area’s crime stats paint a concerning picture. Thembisa police station, once ranked third in serious crimes, now sits at 11th, while it remains the second worst in the country for contact crimes.

Ivory Park police station isn’t far behind at 11th place.

Beyond tackling crime on the streets, there's also growing concern over the safety of churches, once places of refuge, now increasingly targeted by criminals.
