JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng police have made serious strides in the fight against crime.
Provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Tommy Mthombeni, says they have made over 34,000 arrests since October 2024.
He also says they have made over 160 arrests within the police department for corruption and other crimes.

Authorities were out in full force on Thursday in the West Rand to ensure safety and security in the province.
Police have vowed to continue clamping down on those who are not following the law.
"We are really hared at work in ensuring that communities feel safe," he said.
