DURBAN - Traffic officials in Durban have a bumpy road ahead.
A section of a bridge near Amanzimtoti on the busy N2 south has partially collapsed.
Experts say there was a bearing failure between the pier and the deck.
Now, Sanral is in a race against time to patch things up before the festive season rush kicks into high gear.

They hope they will manage to bridge the gap in time, otherwise holidaymakers will have to take the scenic route.
Hope Magidimisha-Chipungu from UKZN's School of the Built Environment said South Africa's infrastructure is not equipped to deal with the effects of climate change.
"The infrastructure that we have in KZN and the country is no longer meant for the weather conditions that we have," she said.
