MAKANA - The taps have once again run dry in the Makana local municipality in the Eastern Cape leaving many communities without water for over a week.

After enduring a dry Christmas, residents now face the grim prospect of ringing in the new year with empty buckets.
This isn’t a new story for the Makana Local Municipality, which has struggled with water supply issues for over a decade.
As frustration boils over, the Makana Local Municipality mayor, Yandiswa Vara, insists the situation is stable.
She has addressed the media on the ongoing water crisis in the municipality and spoke with eNCA senior reporter Aviwe Mtila afterwards.
