Libyan nationals questioned after police pounce on 'secret' military camp

JOHANNESBURG - A total of 95 Libyan nationals have been taken in for questioning after being found at a secret military camp in Mpumalanga.

Home Affairs officials are on site as investigations continue to determine if other criminal activities are linked to the camp.

In their visa applications, they allegedly claimed to be entering the country to train as security guards.

"We take any threat to the security and stability of our province and country very seriously," said Major General Mkhwanazi, Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga.

"This operation demonstrates our commitment to acting swiftly and decisively against any activities that could undermine our national interests and ensure the safety of our citizens because that is our primary mandate."
