DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli says he's in talks with the Presidency in a bid to secure funds to assist flood victims.
At least three people died in the floods around Durban this week.
Over a thousand families have been affected by disruptive rains.
Inanda is one of the hardest hit areas.
The premier said the damage is estimated to be around R1-billion.
"I had an engagement with the President wherein he was offering financial support by engaging relevant departments so that we try and offer support," he said
Ntuli is visiting affected areas to assess the extent of the damage.
