PRETORIA - Singer Kelly Khumalo was the sixth suspect in the Senzo Meyiwa murder investigation.
This was revealed by the lead investigating officer in the trial into his murder.
Investigations pointed to Khumalo being the mastermind of a contractual killing.
Meyiwa was shot at Khumalo’s home in Vosloorus in October a decade ago.
Five men are charged with the murder.
Gininda says Khumalo was implicated by confessions as being behind the killing.
An application for a warrant of arrest was made in November 2020, but was never authorised.
Gininda was being cross-examined about an affidavit he wrote to apply for Khumalo’s arrest.
The court also heard how Khumalo communicated with accused number three Mthobisi Mncube.
Previously, the court heard Khumalo had communicated with accused five Fisokuhle Ntuli in the weeks leading up to Meyiwa’s murder.
Ntuli has been named as the co-ordinator of the hit, while Mncube was the alleged shooter.
Gininda says cellphone evidence proves links between Khumalo and Mncube.
