JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg has convened an extra-ordinary council meeting on Friday to appoint a new city manager.
The position has been vacant since the departure of Floyd Brink in December.

The city council will consider today, a report aimed at making acting city manager, Tshepo Makola's appointment permanent.
Mayor Dada Morero was hoping to install the Joburg Property Company CEO, Helen Botes, in the position.
Critics however, argue that her long tenure has not resulted in positive changes, especially not in the maintenance of city buildings.
