JMPD warns officers against soliciting bribes

JOHANNESBURG - Police officers soliciting bribes are going cashless and accepting e-wallet and cash-send transfers.

But, authorities are on to them and have sent out a stern warning.

Several officers are already being investigated for corruption by the JMPD’s Internal Affairs Unit.

JMPD Chief Patrick Jaca said the problem is very serious.

"So far, we've got more than eight complaints and a few members are facing disciplinary action," he said.

"It's very important people report [this] so that we can stamp this kind of action out of JMPD."
