JOHANNESBURG - Rand Water is urging Gauteng residents not to panic and stockpile water.

This is as the utility's five-week maintenance plan began in Mogale City on Saturday.

The project is expected to wrap up at the end of July.

"We are implementing on different dates and different municipalities," said Rand Water spokesperson Makenosi Maroo.

"Reservoirs run dry when people start panicking and stockpiling water."
