STILFONTEIN - The death toll at Stilfontein continues to rise.
By the end of day on Wednesday, seven bodies had been brought to the surface.
The illegal miners who remain underground have been sending letters asking for food and water to be sent down to them.
It is unknown how many miners there are underground.
Rescue operations have not begun, even though Police Minister Senzo Mchunu pledged last week to rescue all the zama zamas “as soon as possible”.
