Hawks to probe organisers, planners of Mpumalanga military camp

Investigations against the camp financiers underway

JOHANNESBURG - While authorities are yet to uncover the true intentions and the purpose of the 95 Libyan nationals arrested at an illegal training camp in White River, Mpumalanga, the National Director of Public Prosecutions has withdrawn its case against the Libyans.

The office is citing insufficient evidence to secure a prosecution.

The group is now in the custody of Home Affairs and is expected to be deported soon.

The National Director of Public Prosecutions, Shamila Batohi, says the Hawks are proceeding with investigations against the planners, organisers and financiers of the camp.
