JOHANNESBURG - Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube has vowed to take decisive action following reports that the 2024 matric results are being sold online for R100.
Speaking during a briefing on Monday ahead of a breakfast event celebrating the country’s Top matric achievers, Gwarube confirmed that the department is investigating the matter.
She expressed concern over the matter and said if there is a breach in their system, they will deal with it decisively.
But the minister said she can not rule out cybercrime, and as a result, the Hawks have been roped in to investigate the matter.
She's also assured parents that despite the reports that have marred the matric results, the integrity of the results was still intact.
Gwarube is expected to release the 2024 matric results on Monday evening.
Over 800,000 candidates sat for the National Senior Certificate exams last year.
