Gang violence spills onto EC school grounds

HANKEY - Eastern Cape schools are turning into war zones as gang fights spill over onto school grounds.

A video on social media shows a pupil attempting to break through a classroom door with an axe.

It's believed he wanted to gain access to attack another pupil.

The incident took place at Hankey High School on Thursday.

The Eastern Cape Education Department says they are aware of the matter and have adopted a multi-stakeholder approach to resolve the situation.
