JOHANNESBURG - Tuesday is the final day for spaza shop owners to register their businesses or face closure.
The 21-day deadline is part of efforts to combat a surge of foodborne illnesses.
It was announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa last month.

Several children have died after allegedly consuming food from local spaza shops.
The President made it clear that any vendor failing to register by the end of the day will be shut down.
The deadline for registration is 5pm on Tuesday.
