JOHANNESBURG - The Free State is the latest province that is urging schools to halt food sales in or near schools.
This follows a series of incidents where pupils fell ill after eating snacks bought from hawkers.
It's suspected the food may have been contaminated.
But SGB bodies say government has no legal authority to stop schools from selling food.
The Economic Development MEC Ketso Makume said they are worried about hawkers and vendors selling snacks inside the schools.
