JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng government is calling on the Presidency to declare the recent food poisoning incidents a state of emergency.
This comes after the death of yet another child in Alexandra .
The 10-year-old allegedly consumed food bought from a local spaza shop.
There has been an increase in the number of children dying or being admitted to hospitals for suspected food poisoning across the country.
The MEC for Economic Development and Finance in the province, Lebogang Maile, is calling for an aggressive approach to bringing and end to the situation.
Maile says the Zimbabwean nationals who owned the spaza shop linked to the tragic death of a 10-year-old child in Alexandra, have reportedly fled.
