DURBAN - With the wave of tourists heading to the beach this festive season, there is increased risk of drownings.
The National Sea Rescue Institute is urging those living in and visiting Durban to exercise caution at the beaches.

It says a new moon spring tide is expected to peak from Tuesday.
Beachgoers are advised to observe lifeguard duty hours and to avoid swimming in areas without them.
