Families mourn loss of 12 young lives

JOHANNESBURG - The nation is mourning the loss of 12 young lives.

The primary school children were killed in a crash on the way to school on Wednesday.

The mini-bus they were travelling in overturned and caught fire after apparently being hit from behind.

The scholar transport driver died on the scene, while the other driver was injured in the crash.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has sent his condolences to the families of the 12 pupils. 

He says the loss of such young lives at the start of a new school term has touched the entire nation.
