JOHANNESBURG - Eskom is warning the risk of rolling blackouts remains high.
This follows the breakdown of six generation units yesterday.
It's placed significant pressure on the power grid, forcing Eskom to rely on emergency reserves.
The power utility is warning that if it loses another 800MW, it will have no choice but to implement Stage 2 power cuts.
Efforts are underway to bring seven units back online by this evening.
Teams are actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates as they come in.

Earlier today, Eskom issued an urgent alert about a high risk of loadshedding this evening. While we managed to keep the system stable, it remains constrained and loadshedding may still be implemented at short notice if necessary.
