KWAONOBUHLE - Eastern Cape Education is calling on schools to closely monitor food consumed within their premises.
This after 29 pupils were rushed to a local clinic after eating chips from a vendor at Nokhwezi Primary School.
The children complained of itchy skin and swollen and teary eyes shortly after consuming the snack.

All 29 affected pupils were back at school on Wednesday, while two others are receiving attention at home.
The SGB chairperson says they'll continue to closely monitor the situation.
The Eastern Cape education department expressed concern at the incident.
