DA: Hlophe is too compromised to sit on JSC

CAPE TOWN - Democratic Alliance lawyers are arguing Parliament should have exercised discretion when the MK Party nominated John Hlophe to serve on the JSC.

These arguments to determine whether the impeached Western Cape Judge president should remain on the JSC are continuing on Friday morning in the Western Cape High Court.

The DA doesn't want him there, as they say Hlophe is severely compromised and can't sit in the body.

Hlophe was impeached by the National Assembly in March.

The DA is questioning whether his nomination is in the public interest and whether he's the best candidate for the job.

Hlophe is one of ten MPs nominated by parties to represent Parliament on the body that interviews and appoints judges.
