CAPE TOWN - Seven Western Cape police stations are in the top 10 for recording the highest number of murder cases in the country.
Nyanga retaining its former title of being the country's murder capital with 79 killings, an increase of 64 percent for the same period in the previous year.
Police top brass released crime statistics for the first six months of the year, and despite a 0.5 percent decrease in overall murders, the picture is disturbing.

Police Minister Senzo Mchunu says he remains concerned about crimes like murder, rape, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Despite the challenges, Mchunu has hailed police for the extensive work they put into fighting crime, sometimes under the most dangerous conditions.
