Crime in SA | Off-duty cop almost kills security boss in bar brawl

DURBAN - A Durban security boss is still in a serious condition after an off-duty police officer almost beat him to death.

Brandon Pillay intervened when the constable and his friends were involved in a brawl at a pool bar this weekend.

After escorting them outside, the situation escalated with the police officer allegedly fetching a gun from his car.

Pillay is reportedly still making a slow recovery in hospital.

The SAPS says, besides the criminal charges, their member will also face internal discipline.

It warned officers to be mindful of their conduct in and out of uniform.
