JOHANNESBURG - Elderly South Africans can still benefit from a temporary work programme – for now.

Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Velenkosini Hlabisa, has extended the contracts of Community Work Programme participants aged 55 years and older.
The department announced in August last year it would end the participation of CWP workers who also receive old age grants.
However government has since reversed that decision until at least March.
