JOHANNESBURG - City Power is urging Johannesburg residents to use electricity sparingly.
The utility says its system is under immense pressure following recent storms that caused flooding and damaged infrastructure.
City Power had suspended load reduction until the end of this month, but now says it may be forced to re-implement it without prior notice to avoid a total grid collapse.
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said they're dealing with thousands of outages.
"Teams are assisting with the backlog," he said.
