JOHANNESBURG - The Border Management Authority (BMA) is on high alert this festive season, as high volumes of traffic are expected at various ports of entry around the country.
It expects to process about six million people at its borders this festive season.
Commissioner Mike Masiapato says this will be the highest number since the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020.
Masiapato says Beitbrigde and Lebombo remain the busiest land borders, while OR Tambo International and Cape Town are the busiest air travel ports.
However, with increased traffic runs the risk of criminal activities such illegal immigration and smuggling among others.
