Back to school | Concerns over KZN's state of readiness

DURBAN - The National Teachers’ Union says schools are not ready for opening day, particularly in KwaZulu-Natal.

NATU says schools in the province do not have the books and stationery needed for teaching and learning.

NATU general secretary Doctor Ngema said they are anxious to see the school year get off on the right footing.

"It is correct that planning for 2025 should have happened last year," Ngema said. 

"But when we engaged with the department even last year, they would complain that there are issues of budget cuts, that affect the delivery of teaching and learning support material in schools."
