95 Libyan nationals apprehended at military-style camp to appear in court

JOHANNESBURG - A total of 95 Libyan nationals are expected to appear in a Mpumalanga court on Monday.

They are alleged to have been receiving military training illegally near White River.

The group was arrested during a joint operation by law enforcement agencies and Home Affairs.

Military equipment and drugs were recovered.

Police say the Libyan nationals arrived in the country in April on study visas to train as security guards, but received military training instead.

The facility has been closed as police investigations continue.
