2024 elections | ConCourt rejects bid to delay polls

JOHANNESBURG - The Constitutional Court has ruled that three unregistered parties will remain off the ballot.

They approached the court to among others have the election date postponed.

The Labour Party, Afrikan Alliance of Social Democrats and African Congress for Transformation argued they missed the deadline for submissions due to glitches in the IEC system.

They had first discussed the issue with the commission, before heading to the Electoral Court.

That court dismissed the case leading them to approach the apex court to appeal the dismissal.

The IEC had argued that any changes to the election timetable would impact the 29 May polls.
